Family Caregiver Support Program

Family Caregiver Education Series
The Family Caregiver Education Series is a
combination of guest speakers, group activities, resource materials and discussions which give caregivers a chance to learn, reflect and share their caregiving experiences. These programs are held year round. Visit our calendar to see upcoming events.

Annual Caregiver Resource Fair
Each spring, Alamance ElderCare hosts a Caregiver
Resource which brings together various organizations and agencies that provide services to older adults. The fair is a great opportunity to speak with representatives from each agency and learn how  these community resources can help you and the person you care for.

Respite Care
Respite allows the primary caregiver time away from
home by providing care for their loved one. It is useful for family emergencies, planned circumstances, relief from the daily responsibility and stress of caring for an older adult. Respite can be in-home care or adult day services.

NOTE: In order to be eligible for assistance with respite, the older individual must need hands-on assistance, supervision or cueing for at least two of the following everyday activities: eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, bowel and bladder control, transfers (getting in out of bed or chairs) and communication.

You are a caregiver if you:
  • Assist with personal care to help a loved one bathe, dress, eat, use the toilet and move about.

  • Help with errands, shopping, budgeting, medical appointments, home repairs and transportation.

  • Provide other help to a loved one as they age.
